Get a Venice, it's the newest one. Winchester and Clawhammer are older models.

OK, assuming your getting single cores: For Athlon cpus get the Venice core or San diego (but San diego is only for the higher end models)
For opteron, get the Venus



Now, which one's better, Athlon or Opteron? Get the opteron if you can find any.
