I have a P5B-E and Intel E6600 CPU. No overclocking.
Tonight I replaced the stock Intel heatsink with a Thermalright XP-90 (no fan). The heat sink is very near the 120mm case (exhaust) fan.
My recollection is that the CPU temp with the Intel heatsink never got over the mid-40's C.
With the XP-90 (and the CPU idle), it's running in the mid-70's.
Did I do something wrong? I did apply heat sink compound as directed, and the XP-90 seems like it's positioned correctly.
Thanks - Jim
