It has to be the US. I'm from Canada and when I go to the US on business, I can't believe the variety of candy bars and soda's you have in the convenience stores. Just overwhelming amounts of sugar laden crap available for purchase. No wonder Americans are so obese.

Yeah, I've never seen an obese Canadian

Certainly not at the same levels as our American counterparts.

But not far off, and rising just as fast.

At last glance 15% of Canadians are obese compaired to 20% of Americans.

That's not a HUGE difference. And last time I saw, much of Europe and Canada's obesity rates were rapidly catching up to those in the US.

Just more proof that it isn't any one food, or type of food that causes obesity rates to rise. It's the overall LIFESTYLE. This means overall diet and most importantly, activity levels.

The less active we become, the more obese we become. And sedentary lifestyles lead to excess munching. The most popular munchies? Just look at the one food that demands at LEAST an entire aisle in a supermarket: Chips and crackers.

We went on a lowfat craze... and became fatter than before. We went on a low carb craze, and obesity continues to climb.

Folks, blaming food for obesity is like blaming guns for crime.

According to the National Center for Health, 31% of Americans are obese with a BMI in excess of 30.0. And 63% are overweight with a Body Mass Index (BMI) in excess of 25.0. You figure of 20% is very low.

My info comes from the Canadians:

Obviously the Canadians have a different threshold for "obese."

Amused, I swear you are the brother/father/son I never had, but always wanted.

You know it's sad that there are so many people down on the US that the first answer to anything remotely bad or wrong is "US".
