What could cause boot problems?

My computer still fails to boot even after I "repaired" Windows XP home so it must be something else...

Now I don't get it, my computer runs great after it boots - sure there are the small problems but nothing to keep me down

But the problem it often fails to boot (brings me to the boot naturaly, last known configuration screen)
___

If it was compatiblity how would it be running fine (once up)... don't get it

ya I did, it asked for it when installing and repairing windows.

nope, this computer is new - the occasional boot problems have happend sense it first fired up

Don't know if I'll be able to help, but what make is it ?

If it's a Custom built rig I'll probably be able to help more than if it's a Dell or HP or something.

Is this a random thing? Itll fail to boot twice and then boot on the third time for no reason?

If so then it could be hardware:

PSU
Hard drive
RAM
motherboard

Theyre likely culprits, the RAM and hard drive being the easiest to diagnose, PSU/motherboard problems are more difficult.
