What could be causing this network usage?

Hi, guys the situation that I have is one of my computers on my lan seems to be requesting info from the others on the lan. The computers that are acting weird are 2 WinXP boxes. Their seems to be traffic between them when they are idle. Both XP boxes have been scanned for viruses and spyware and are clean. They have no P2P software on them or IM client. The only thing that is running the in the system tray are an ATI and Nvidia settings changer on respective boxes. File and Print sharing is enabled between all three computers so an inkjet printer can be shared. I have changed the network card on the suspect box (P4 1.8ghz), but it still does the same so something is going on with it.

I have another Win2K box on the lan but is not requesting or receiving anything at idle, it has also been scanned for viruses and spyware and is clean.

Please let me know what you think about this. Thanks and take care

that's just the nature of windows boxes - they're very "chatty" and will constantly communicate with each other.

Now if you're seeing much more than a packet or 2 a second then I'd be concerned.
