I got in on the Athlon 64 Socket 754/Free MOBO combo for $99, and while my CPU was excellent at first, I've noticed it's somehow underclocked itself. (The Horror!) For about a week it ran at the usual stock speed of 2.4 ghz. But now my system is showing it at running at just under 1ghz.

^It has an auto overclock function that I haven't used much. But if I were to try pushing it by 1%, the number would go from 2400mhz to 1005mhz... So it's a pretty good bet it's not running at it's original stock speed it began with anymore.
The system runs on Windows XP OS and on a Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M Motherboard with a gig of ram. Any idea on what could be causing this? Or what I could do to fix it?
