What contacts solution do you use?

I got an eye exam the other day, and the doc asked me what solution do I use. I told her I use generic store brand, and she recommend me not to use it because there's a recent study that said generic store brand is less effective than name brand.

Does anyone knows more about this? Like if it's true or not.

If she's a regular with you, I suggest you find someone else. They don't get paid $150,000 to give out dumbshit advice.
 
Generic. I let my wife get it for me since she is a doctor and I always trust the doctor with my eyes. 🙂
 
i use opti-free. i have found that my eyes just felt more comfortable all day long then compared to other brands. towards the end of the day my eyes would feel drier with others.
 
I use Opti-Free "replenish", the generics don't bother me too much, but there is a bit of a sting when I put my contacts in after being in generic all night long, they seem to dry faster too.
Plus with the replenish stuff, they have some kind of chemical in them that is supposed to keep them wet longer, which is good for me because my eyes are very dry.

If you have astigmatism or high eye pressure, do what the optometrist tells you, no reason to lose or mess up your eyesight over $2-3 a month.

Of course the Opti-free "replenish" may not have made it out of the ohio valley area yet, since we are a huge test area.
 
Boston Advanced here. Costs $8 total for my cleaner, soaking soultion, enzyme remover & lense case from my optometrist, usually lasts me three months. Everywhere else it's $8 a piece for the cleaner and soaking solution.
 
I use cheapass Equate (Walmart brand) stuff. It's only like $3 for 1 large/12 oz. bottle and cheaper for the 2 pack. Sure a few dollar savings doesn't seem like much, but combine that with the Equate listerine (damn is the brand name 'Advanced' stuff so expensive... like 2x the price for 1/2 the size bottle, even though it is the exact same ingredients in all types), JetAlert caffeine pills which were even $1 cheaper for more pills than generic ones, and all that kind of crap... tends to amount to a good $ savings.
 
I used to use generic, but since I started using these new Acuvue Oasys contacts I started having some issues. The doc recommended trying Opti-free no-rub claiming it helps the contacts stay more moist. Seems to be working for me.

Anyway, I'm hoping to go with Lasik next year anyway.
 
My sister is an optometrist.. I use whatever she gives me because it's FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

Worth the extra money as the contacts literally feel like new after an overnight cleaning.


 
I like to live dangerously and use Renu. I use a Ciba Vision cleaner called MiraFlow that's AMAZING to clean them, then rinse with the Renu.

MiraFlow was actually off the market for a little bit and I was really getting worried since no other cleaner does as good of a job. I guess Ciba stopped producing it so they could use the equipment for other products to meet demand. Bottles on eBay would go for $25+ (for a bottle that costs around $8 normally). I lucked out and found some at a pharmacy and bought all they had, which wasn't enough to use for the whole time it was unavailable, but I used it sparingly along with a different brand and it worked OK.

Now I keep a stockpile on hand in case it ever becomes unavailable again.

I always wondered how true the "This formula is not sold to any stores as a generic brand" note on the bottles was.
 
I use Renu MultiPlus (or is it MultiPurpose?, whatever one has not been recalled before). I did try using Opti something once, but I found it made my contacts feel slimey and made them uncomfortable to wear.

It was recommended by my eye doc b/c I have drier than average eyes (allergies + "partial blinker") that solution has been a big help with my eye comfort when wearing contacts.
