What console are you getting GTA4 for?

Please don't start silly console wars. Just a statistical thread.

If you're waiting for the PC version/not getting the game at all, I'm afraid to say the poll has no room for you guys. 🙁

Interesting thread, I was about to post an almost identical thread.

I got the green light from my wife to buy a console. Now, do I get a PS3 for blue ray or do I get an XBox360 since it is supposed to have extra downloadable content for GTA4?

I am leaning towards the PS3 because of blue ray support. The fact of the matter is that the extra content on the Xbox is a one shot deal. It's only for GTA4. So, I'd be basing my decision of going XBox360 on a single game. I think the best decision is what will give me more value over time.. Assuming the same games come out for both, the PS3 has the upper hand with BLue Ray support

Pricing is similar enough that I don't care what way I go.

Why not just add PC? And another for not buying? Then everyone is covered.

EDIT: I want Bioshock and that is XBox only (I think). So that might turn me to th e XBox. I will be picking up the console, hopefully tomorrow so I will be buying a game.

Oh, I should ask. Is there a comparison anywhere that is sort of pros/cons of each console?

Also, I'll vote when I buy my console 😉

I have a question. Two actually.

Can the XBox360 play XBox games?
Can the PS3 play PS2 games?

The 360 can play some but not necessarily all of the xbox games. If you go to www.xbox.com and look at the backwards compatability list you'll see which ones. Insofar as the PS3 is concerned the 40GB model currently does not (I don't think) the 60GB does (if you can find them) and the 80GB model does as well how many they do play though I'm not sure. I'm sure there's a compatability list on Sony's website. I know the early model PS3s that had the PS2 chips inside had the highest level of compatability but the newer models rely on software emulation like the 360 does.

Is the DLC for GTA4 going to be free?

Good note on the PS3. Sounds like I want hte 60 or 80 gig model.

Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but I really doubt it'll be free since MS gave Rockstar a $50 million advance on the DLC sales. 😉

I'm buying GTA IV for the 360. There was a thread identical to this one a while back... ended up 60/40 in favor of 360.

And that's about the split they're recording at the retail level too. Though MS said pre-orders were running 2 to 1 in their favor.

PS3, simply because I prefer the PS3 over the 360 in most practical aspects.

If downloaded content becomes a big deal, then I can always switch over to the 360 version, but I doubt it will become a major draw for me.

PS3. I don't own a 360, so the DLC won't matter in the end as I'll never see it. Won't matter anyway, I'll never get close to beating GTAIV. 😛 I rarely beat games, especially lengthy ones. 😀
Maybe the PS3 will get DLC of its own. I bet it will just because Rockstar was so tied to the PS brand for so long, and I bet Sony will end up giving them something.

DLC is usually crap so I wouldn't base my decision off that.

Which $50 million dollar DLC scenario are you referencing as a precedent?

Are you saying you think they're going to spend $50 million creating the content?

Isnt there already a pole on this very topic in the main GTAIV thread that Modeps started? Why do we need two? I normally dont give a crap about redundant threads, but this one just wont die and we need more excitement in the official thread. 😛
