A) A low end computer with internet connection

OR

B) A beast of a rig without internet connection

I'd go with B.

p.s. sorry if there's no poll as I don't know how to set it up

I have both.

BUT, if I had to pick, I'd go with internet.
Right now I am typing on a netbook with wifi. These days, overall, connectability is more useful and practical than sheer, raw processing power. Crap PC's are more then fast enough to deal with basic tasks.

No matter how much I may want it to work, an emachine could not do the work of my workstation.

You could add internet to the beast for far less than it would take to make the low-end one a beast.

I don't think that's in the spirit of the pole... it's meant for you to choose. e..g you could also get Internet at workplace/school/phone. is that allowed? I assumed no.

but again this poll is silly. there's no need to choose.

When you look around AnandTech and these forums the big thing is more power, more speed, more screen real estate, more, more, more.

But when it comes to no internet access...oh my God! I'll take something/anything...as long as I'm hooked into the grid.
