What computer games can entertain a 6 year old for hours?

My girlfriend wants something that'll get her 6 y/o out of her hair tomorrow because she'll be busy cooking and cleaning and entertaining 20+ people tomorrow. I Dosbox + a bunch of old games on her laptop for her kid to play but the ones i put on there were either too complicated or he got bored of quickly. When I was his age I played Doom, but my gf says that's too violent. :p

Suggestions for computer games or anything else that'll keep him occupied?

Dune II

Oh how I wish there was a better interface for Dune II - it sucked having to move large groups of units one at a time, without any kind of box-select ability.

What's in the laptop? A good FPS like Halo PC would do.

So help me if you give the kid a microphone. :|

I hear enough kids that have to be that age on so many games.

Most used to have their vent channels listed and it usually got old fast.

There are NO video games that will entertain/babysit a six year old for "hours." Maybe YOU should step up and play with the boy while Mom is entertaining.

Umm, I loved playing video games as a kid but if you think a kid will be entertained for hours it might not happen. Then again, lazy kids these days... :p

Ehhh, those are to tame for most kids these days.

Just find a recent Japan tentacle game.

I will be, but not until later when I get there.

X-wing vs TIE fighter? Pokemon was my first thought, give him one of the originals though :)

Use whatever game suggestion here and spike his easter juice with Benadryl. Sedation, ftw.
