i recently built a new computer with my son (p4 1.6a, ti4200 with 128 meg, 500 megs). he's 15.

the question is, if you were to get one game for him for christmas, which one should it be?

What type of games does he like?

I recommend No One Lives Forever II. It's a First person Shooter with a lot of humor much in the Austin Power's mold.

And you might consider OverClocking that 1.6a. ;)

I'd have to say depends on the maturity of the 15 year old, since the rating is Mature (17+). I know one 15 year old who should not be let anywhere near games like this.

I think he's in a class of his own though, he's living GTA 3 right now, I won't go into details since he's a junvenile.

I'd say Unreal Tournament 2003... It's nice and bloody and violent - perfect for a 15 year-old.. Plus, getting a nice bloody game like that shows that you're not yet out of touch with his needs.

Grand Theft Auto 3 would also be pretty good... but that's a game that's better played in the living room with a bunch of people watching.

and Don't try to tell me you want something non-violent! No dad buys his kid a Geforce TI 4200 and expects him to play Solitaire. ;)

GTA3. He can learn many valueable skills, such as: how to pick up hookers, steal cars, kill poeple, dispose of evidence etc.

Half Life, and download CS and Natural Selection, give that to him on a second disk.
Battlefield 1942 is danm fine as well.
UT2003 is real good.

Another vote for Battlefield 1942.
It's not as violent as some of other games mentioned (UT2003, GTA, Half-Life/CS), and demands teamwork skills when playing online.

Since no one mentioned it, I would say Tribes2. It can be found real cheap ( like $10 ) and is massivly multiplayer. up to 128 poeple on a server. Requires loads of teamwork, and fair play. It is also fun as hell.

Not really "the one" game toi get him, but I know he will love it. Hell, I will give lessons if he want's 'em :p

Something is very wrong if GTA3 turns 15-year-olds in something else. :(

What happened to good old common sense?
