Does anyone know where to get these Durons? I have read that the copper connects can lead to stability at higher speeds.

Also, does anyone know what company sells the P3s for a good price ??

I cant bring myself to buy a p3 600 for 190!!

just a tidbit of info... all the blue core t-birds are made out of dresden Germany, and include copper connects... the green core t-birds are made in a plant in the u.s.(i think it's in texas) without the copper connects...

The reason i mentioned all that is because the durons, regardless of core color are all made in the u.s. and don't have copper connects :)

hope this helps, and if i'm wrong, please let me know, i've been going on what i've read in the news.

Yes, AMD are located 30 min from where I'm at. They are located in Austin, Texas.

When you order over the phone, you can try to specify what color AMD chip you want. Some time they arrive green, sometime they arrive blue. Or to be sure, go to a computer show and cherry pick it for yourself.

i've heard a rare number of people say they've recieved a purple core t-bird... anyone know the scoop on where they come from and what's so special about them? All i know is they can be overclocked like crazy.

Everybody do a search on this in forums if you want to know. From my research there are no Durons with copper interconnects. The color you are refering to is in the polish nothing else. Repeat its in the polish. So with that being said color=nothing but color.

Well, goto AMD's tech docs, theres a 3rd revision of Duron with 128K L2, thats 256K total instead of 192K.

forcesho,

can you post a link? I'm tempted to say that you're on crack, but if its true, that'll certainly be interesting to see.

I guess it would make some sense though, since if you up the multiplier any more, the Duron will have some severe memory issues resulting from its small L2.

yes there is a spec for duron's with 128K L2 cache, but it doesn't really mean much if they never release it. :)
