what company has the most servers in the world

now let's not get too fussy but I meant not only web servers. i was just wonderin what company had the greatest number of networked servers. Google? i read somewhere they had an estimated 100,000. now i dont know much about anything but that seems like quite a few. also i read that they built all their servers...that's one hell of a folding@home network ...

I know there are 10k + at the Google Datacenter in Suwanee,GA (shared with eDeltaCom. I saw 'em and googled at 'em. edit: They have guys that roll down the isles with push carts pulling out and replacing dead servers all day long. That job has to suck.

Of course bussiness operations are not public information so we will never know. Definitely not The Govt or the CIA etc, or any major world banks. Because they use z/Series mainframes from IBM and if you're counting boxes, 1 mainframe replaces 100 to 10,000 systems in a server farm, depending on how much you buy the marketing hype. These are the kinds of boxes sprint buys one of to manage cell phone transactions. They also cost on the order of a million bucks for just one, so google would be smart to build its own systems.

I will also say, I am puzzled by this notion of ownership of a server. The power of a server is not given to who owns it, but to who knows how to use it. Young grasshopper.
