What company do you use for travelers insurance when leaving the country?

None, you have to fight them tooth and nail most of the time to get just a little and that's if they pay at all.

Is Traveler's Insurance a thing? I've never even considered the possibility of such a thing existing, much less ever needing it, when I leave the country.

Remember the movie Airport.

But I guess that's just flight insurance. Use to be a big thing they would sell you insurance right before you get on your plane. Have not noticed one in a while.

I'm guessing he means insurance for if you get your stuff ganked by a gypsy, or maybe stabbed by a drunken Russian, or something like that.

What are you looking to cover? Just medical evacuation? Then look at something like MedJet Assist. Cancellation\Interruption\Delay? Credit cards have a fairly broad array of options from minimal to fairly substantial (Chase Sapphire and Citi Prestige are towards the substantial end of the spectrum). I've also heard decent things about Allianz https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/

Insuremytrip lets you choose based on a variety\combination of factors so you can combine medical with cancellation or see what certain price points gets you:

I've not used any non-credit card based options personally. Most travel goes on my Sapphire card for cancellation and delay coverage. My Amex Platinum offers medical evacuation coverage for myself and my wife just for having the card.

I don't buy travel insurance. I book and pay everything travel related with my Chase Sapphire Reserve card and hope for the best. I don't really see the need to buy insurance.
