What color socks do you wear?

Black, always black, even when I'm out running/working out.

I stopped wearing white socks since Grade 11 or 6 years ago. Something I don't like about white socks. It's kinda like whitey-tighties. The pisser is that new black socks turn my foot black so I've learned to wash them first.

This thread is nice, isn't it? So much shouting and incivility in so many other threads yet we can all come together and have a nice discussion about socks in here.

Let's keep this moment going.

White, unless I'm wearing my dress shoes, then I wear black socks. I should probably get some tan socks to match my khaki pants I wear at work I suppose.

white.

the gay mafia is going to revoke my card for this, but I wear white socks even with black/gray suits 😱 I get my suits fitted so that the pants are still covering the top inch or so of my shoes even while seated, though.

For work: Whatever socks that match my suit

For jeans or shorts: White

I did not vote because all the choices are wrong, even "other".

Anyone who wears dress shoes and white socks lacks fashion sense and I suspect the majority of ATOT nerds here probably wear white socks w/ dress shoes.

But anything goes w/ jeans.

No, I KNOW it's a "fashion faux pas", I am simply unable to give a damn when I'm dressing for work. I'm a developer and spend most of my time at my desk, and I'm judged by my job performance, not how well my belt and socks match my pants and shoes.

However, though it is not fair, if you are competing with someone with equal qualifications and job performance, how you look/dress may be the deciding factor in who gets the promotion.

But, of course, we do not want to work for a company or person who judges us on our looks/dress. We would rather quit!!! 😉

I am only 1 of 4 who wears brown socks in your everday life? Damn. Brown work shoes are pretty standard.

I have to vent for a second... a stupid pet-peeve of mine is when men wear black socks with brown shoes or white socks with black shoes. There are a lot of "ok" fashion ideas that were not normally accepted before (i.e. white after labor day, etc) that I have embraced, but this one is annoying to me.

tan, khaki, brown, navy blue, black, gray, etc... shade generally matches my pants (though not 9999% exactly)

when its for home / casual, white most of the time, but sometimes blue, gray, etc when going out anywhere not the grocery market

Fortunately, I'm not competing with anyone 😎
And somehow I doubt wearing "appropriately colored" socks would tip the scales over me having long hair and a goatee.

If the other candidate also has long hair and a goatee, the socks are the next item on the list of tie-breakers.

Black dress/casual/tennis shoes - black socks
Brown dress shoes - black or brown socks pending color of pants
Everything else - white socks

Usually what I do. I can't stand white socks with black shoes.
