What color kitchen garbage can to get?

Finally getting around to replacing that cardboard box I've been using to hold the plastic garbage bag.

Is there any possible reason to care what color the garbage can is? Why do they come in different colors? This is a basic cheap condo kitchen with no design features that I can see.

The cheapest kitchen garbage can at Target comes in white or black. Is there some advantage, however small, to choosing either color? They are exactly the same price.

I am aware that at a place like Container Store, you can spend a lot more for a kitchen garbage can. I just assume that is for people who have high-end-garbage-can fetishes and yay for you if you get off on that sort of thing.

Is there something going on in the world of garbage-can procurement that I'm unaware of?

ATOT only recommends stainless.

The color is to give the buyer choice. Functionally, it doesn't matter, but aesthetically you might think a silver colored trash can would look much better than a blue one. Maybe your kitchen is all stainless steel and you want a trash can to match. Maybe you want to get a cool or interesting trash can, such as a tiki style trash can.

Otherwise, they're no different than the cardboard box you've been using. Well, more resistant to leaks but if you have good bags that shouldn't be an issue.

Tough decision. Choose the wrong color and terrible, awful things will happen to your kitchen's appearance. I don't think I can help you.

I use a grey 5 gallon bucket. Can't beat the price, and it fits grocery store bags better than most :^)

They make them different colors for WOMEN, who believe that everything must match in color, or the world will come to an end.

These are the same creatures who believe that we men should be psychic (if I have to tell you why I'm mad....), and think that there really is such a thing as "female logic". 🙄

Congrats for crapping on a perfectly good kitchen thread you BASTARD!

Nice find.

i went with stainless. It also features a proximity sensor in the lid and opens automagically when garbage is near. Anything less is for poor people.

trash cans out in the open are for poor people. get a $2 plastic trash bucket and throw it in a closet.

that or just throw it in the pantry and/or broom closet if you have something of that nature.
