What color goes well with lavender? I'm asking because my prom date's dress is lavender and I need to pick out a color for my vest.

um... she told me it was lavender, which I assume is different from purple. I just need to get a general idea of colors that go well with it before I order my tux, though the people at the shop will probably be able to help me more.

How about just get a normal colored tux for yourself? Black/Grey matches pretty well with most colors, lavender included
 
Ok, I guess grey is good, that was what I was thinking. I'll probably get a black tux, grey vest, and black bow tie.
 
My wife and I just painted a bathroom lavender (her idea). We wanted one wall different. A dark purpleish red did the trick. It goes great with lavender. But so does white.

This works well too. It says Prelude (a greyish teal) or Delectable (a darker lavender/purple).

I suggest black tux, black vest, black tie, white shirt, right? If you take off your jacket, you'll have a grey vest, black pants, with her lavendar dress?

It's the fricking prom, dress like you own it. Black and Grey are for the funeral.

BTW, lavender = purple
 
Or even better, buy a nice suit - you'll need it when you enter the real world and it looks a lot better than a rented tux!
 
it depends if you want to pull off just one color or two. If you want just one go with yellow, because its on the opposite end of the spectrum, but you could also go with a light orange, and lighter green those would be approprite as well but you'd have to wear both colors to pull it off. Thanks color theory.
