For a brief spell during the seventies, the football team would bring out a pair of wolves--I think/assume they were red wolves--to the games.

Not sure if this is true, it's probably just local lore cooked up by fans, but one story goes that UNC cheerleaders--those inbred dickshits in Chapel Hill--dressed up as hillbillies for an NCSU/UNC game in Raleigh. (NCSU it typically slandered as a "cow college," being established as a big Ag school) Apparently, the cheerleaders brought some pigs with them to enforce the message.

As it goes, our wolves "managed to escape" and slaughtered the UNC pigs on the field, at some point before or during the game. I have no idea.

Now, I'm pretty sure the veracity of this story is about 99% unconfirmable, but it's nice to tell.
