WMP 11 and VLC 0.8.6a

I got WMP 11 working with the "Codec Pack All in 1 6.0.3.0" but VLC would still not play correctly. I uninstalled "Codec Pack All in 1 6.0.3.0" and installed the "Vista Codec Package 4.2.9" as suggested earlier  and still had audio only in VLC. I searched the VLC forums and found some instructions that worked for me.

Settings>Preferences>Video>Output Modules>(Check off "Advanced Options")>In Drop down menu- OpenGL Video Output>Exit Preferences>restart VLC

I went through all the available options in the Output Modules drop down menu and that's the one that worked for me, if you go through them also you may find a fix for your situation.

I'm running an 8800gts on the latest beta drivers and Vista Buisness.

Sounds like you need to try running back at stock settings and try the media again. See if it crashes then.

thats the point, i really dont understand why should OC be a problem when i can run all my application even CPU intensive ones very well without any hitch. i play games for hours. well then do you think the problem is still with the codecs or my video drivers??

i have installed xtremeG 97.92 drivers for XP and a 100.64 vista drivers from Guru 3D.

do you think my GPU drivers are causing this problem??

if nothing works out shall i re install the OS??

The DirectX Output Module worked for me, and was less of a resource drain than OpenGL (this is probably a graphic card issue, I have onboard X3000). The only one that would not work for me is the Direct3D and default (which is probably Direct3D). You know when you change the Output Module you have to close and restart the player, right?
