and yes cheesesteaks are a philly thing only. i tried having "authentic philly cheesesteaks" in different states and none of them tasted right

If I'm going for Philly style, chopped with green peppers and onions, I go with white american.

If I'm just putting some Steak Um's on a roll, I try to pull off a pseudo Black and Blue and use blue cheese.

That is not philly style. Not even close.

Ok I need to clear something up for you people.

This is a Philly cheesesteak

If you have not had something that looks like that - made in Philly - you have not had a Philly cheesesteak, and what you assume to be a cheesesteak is a cheap, third-rate imitation.

Seriously - even the Philly suburbs get it wrong. Since moving to Seattle, I haven't had anything that even resembles that right thing. I don't know why. It is a very simple recipe that no one gets right.

this is kind of sad. People need to know what sarcasm is

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm

This is kind of more sad that cheesesteak doesn't look that great Text

This is like people calling carbonated beverages all "a coke".

"Hey, wanna coke?"
"Sure"
*hands them a Pepsi

That's not a "cheesesteak" that's a "sub" or a "sandwich" with steak and cheese. :p

Local sub shops have variations of those and nobody calls them cheesesteaks (except all you weirdos!)

Depends where in Philly I'm getting one. At Pat's and Geno's it's wiz with. Anywhere else I'll usually get American with mushrooms, ketchup, salt, and pepper.

lol - Jim's, and to a lesser extent Tony Lukes, are just as touristy as Pat's/Genos.
