You will have to do your research very carefully for this. Digital cable support varies for TV-Tuners widely, some don't support it, some have minimal support and some support it all the way. If you could give us the name of the tuner card you are thinking about buying that would be helpful.

If you go for the 50 range I would go for the Leadtek TV2000/XP DLX I love mine though I don't know if it can be used on digital cable.

The Leadtek cards receive digital cable ok but they only tune the first 126 channels. I get channel 2 through 126 on mine and I have Cox digital cable.

Unfortunately, in order to view all the channels provided by the digital cable package you choose from your cable provider, you will need to rent an additional digital cable box and connect that to which ever TV tuner card you decide to purchase.

I subscribe to Comcast's digital cable service (I believe I subscribe to the "digital classic plus" package); however, I only have 1 digital cable box--only that TV has the ability to view all the channels. I have a "standard" cable box for a TV in my bedroom which allows me to get all the non-digital channels + Encore. For my PC, I use the Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 XP tuner card and have no box connected to it, and I only receive the standard basic cable channels on my PC. (no Encore and none of the additional "digital classic plus" channels).

You will get only the analog stations that are broadcast by your cable service and not the digital stations. Cable companies usually broadcast both the analog and digital stations on the same cable. The converter box that you get from them as part of your service understands both the analog and digital stations, but I don't think there are any TV cards available that decode the digital stations (I could be wrong on this, though).

So, to answer your question, you should get all of the stations from 1-125 (or so), but it depends on your cable service.
