What cell phone service do you have/recommend

I'm looking for a cell phone service and want some recommendations. Share what cell phone service you have and the pros and cons of each. Thanks.

spint, had it for like 8 years. Its great for me in central texas, have coverage every i go, from the lake to the ranch, and almost everyone i know is on sprint, so with free sprint-to-srint calling, i barely pay for any of my used minutes. I pay about 45 a month, and talk clsoe to 2000 minutes.

Cingular
Never had a problem with them. Seem to charge less tax, better phones.
I have a 29.99 plan, and it comes out to 35 after taxes.
Had a 29.99 plan with Alltel, came out to 43 after taxes.
Hated Alltel.

I went with T-Mobile a while back. At the time, they offered the most minutes for the lowest price. Not sure what the other companies are offering these days, but I don't think my plan competes like it used to. 🙂

600 anytime
Unlimited weekends and nights
39.99

1000 text messages
6.99

Verizon.

Verizon, I think, is one of those things you get what you pay for. You may be able to get a cheaper plan elsewhere, however Verizon really does have about the best coverage and signal strength out there.
One of the great things is they have this new every two plan where every two years you get $100 credit for a new phone. So if you want a basic phone you can probably get it for free. Or if you want to splurge you essentially have a $100 off coupon to use. Makes it nice that you can get a good deal on a new phone after being a customer for a while instead of many carriers who only give killer phone deals to brand new customers.

One downside to Verizon is that sometimes they don't get the really cool phones other providers get. That being said, you can probably make that statement with every provider.

I have recommended Verizon for many people and most of them switched to Verizon and those that did switch all enjoy the service. Again the plans *may* cost a bit more than what you can get elsewhere but I do think you are getting a higher quality of service.

Cingular, Motorola V400. I like Cingular because coverage is great in southeast Texas, and will be even better when the AT&T towers are completely integrated -- as it is now, you just switch between Orange and Blue networks. We've been with Cingular since before they existed, and we've seldom had a problem. They offer pretty good phones.

The only bad thing is they are not media friendly -- internet and text messaging rates are harsh. Also, they have not yet rolled out the new 7 PM Cingular Nation plans. But I eagerly await them.

Verizon... best coverage in NY and good customer service ... but slightly more expensive plans and not the quickest with new phone models.

When I had Sprint: best phones/adder features ... but terrible signal quality, many dropped calls, and customer service who would get things right about 50% of the time... many billing errors.

AT&T/Cingular. Best signal out there. Beats Sprint and T-mo. Might get beat by Nextel, but then again Nextel costs twice as much.

If you don't talk much ( like me) get a pay as you go type like Virgin Mobile. I pay $8/mo. Only time I use my cell phone is if I'm not at home or work and have to get ahold of my wife or something. But I hardly ever make calls since I'm usually either at home, at work, or somewhere we are together anyway.

I have sprint and my old plan was 29.99 and i paid just under 35 after tax. Now i have a 34.99 plan and can get in at just about $40 a month.

I've never had a problem with them and get great coverage. I haven't had a reason to change..so i haven't.

I used to have Sprint in the bay area, and it was good except indoors.

I just switched to verizon and got a motorola v710. Reception has been perfect and only 1 dropped call.

I have AT&T GSM. I like it. Coverage is excellent (except in remote areas, obviously). Audio quality is pretty good. Few dropped calls, no outages. No problems with billing or anything like that.

I hear horror stories about every company, but for now I don't have any major complaints. *knocks hard on wood*

verizon. had sprint before, was alright, but no friends had it for mobile-2-mobile capabilties. got verizon, its a little bit more expensive than other carriers, and their phone selection is a little lacking, but the coverage is great, and when im stuck or in a remote area, i know my phone will work rather than be a playstation-emulator-that-sucks-me-off-while-pouring-me-a-grande-white-chocolate-mocha-but-cant-make-a-simple-call phone from another provider.

ding ding...

and verizon I like. Everyone I know has verizon as well... makes it nice to use Mobile to Mobile. But yeah, need more phones to pick from. Damn LG one I just got is sooo much cheaper in quality than the old one I had 🙁

Depends on area. S.FL had Sprint, no real coverage problems. Billing and service were lousy, but, I think that's the norm.

Switched to cingular last year. Coverage is also pretty good, no problems. Using a v400. Only real complaint is that the GSM phones apparently cause interference with a lot of audio devices, speakers, corded phones, etc. You hear a bzzz bzzz bzzz when the phone is in the vacinity of the devices (Even the car). I never had this problem with PCS phones and talking with the Cingular techs it's supposedly a problem across all the phones and is due to the frequencies and not the phones themselves.

YMMV.

no one use tmo here?

tmo for me, great coverage in here. I don't use my phone often anyways. then again, coverage is useless if you don't travel. as long as I have signal from the places I go, it doesn't matter. I got $200 rebates when I signed up with tmo and a free moto v300 phone. tmo probably has the best customer service.
