My vote is for the Plextor 8x4x32 IDE. Great drive. It is $185 at buy.com and if you apply the $30 coupon, it comes out to around $164 shipped.

If you got the extra cash, get the plextor 12/10/32a for worry-free, coaster-less burns. It has burnproof technology, and it does wonders. You won't regret it.

I just replaced an Iomega Zip CD 4/4/24 with a new Plextor.

Big Difference. Fast, and I haven't burned a new frisbee yet. Sweet!

Another vote for the Plextor 12/10/32A.

Plextor 12X10X32X, Only 2 coasters I got was from using an illegal keycode with cdrwin. Yes, their copy protection doesnt prevent you from using the software, it just @ucks up your cd's. Use Adaptec EZ CD Deluxe.

I too was looking for a CD-Writer. After doing a little research, I finally decided on the Plextor PX-W1210TA/SW. It's a 12x10x32x, internal, EIDE writer with BURN-proof technology.

I purchased it at Buy.com for $255.45 after tax, shipping, and using a $30.00 coupon. Rather expensive but from what I've gathered on the net, fast and reliable.

Good luck with your decision,

DragonSlayer81: I have the HP 9300I CD Writer and so far i gotten a couple of coasters using the Disk Copy option, if any case, i suspect you get a few coaster once in a while.

I just got a Philips PCRW804K and it's a really nice drive for the money. No coasters yet.

I have an HP 9100i and it works very well. It will create a coaster every once in a while using Adaptec CD Creator disk-to-disk, but I haven't had any problems with it since I've been using CloneCD. I'd certainly recommend the HP.

I have a Plextor 12/10/32A and it works extremely well. Only 2 coasters but those were my fault i.e. taking out cdr before finalizing DirectCD..

I've had a Plextor 8432 for about 4 months that I love...but I'm getting rid of it.....

....because I wanted the new 12/10/32!! Hehe...buy.com has free shipping until Wednesday, so using the $30 coupon I got mine for about $230

Plextor's got my vote...no doubt
