Trying to decide what to spend it on.

Recent albums I liked are

Coldplay - Rush of Blood...
Beth Orton - Daybreaker
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Any recommendations?

Why are you guys suggesting stuff he already has? Go with Aimee Mann's CD... excellent. Other awesome newer stuff:

I was going to recommend (the late) Jeff Buckley in addition to Aimee Mann but decided to keep it short. Too bad the "new" one is some material from '91-'92. Grace is an amazing album though.
