I have a ViewSonic Af90+ CRT monitor connected up to a BFG 6600GT OC PCI express card. This monitor is a couple years old and only has an analog connector, no DVI. The video card only has DVI so I hook it up using a little DVI to analog adapter. I only mention this because it is possible it could have something to do with the problem. When I up the resolution above 11x8 it starts to get "wavy" or "wobbly" like there is some kind of interference or something. I think I used to have the monitor on 1280 x 960 @ 75Hz with my old system and I don't recall it doing this. I did Degauss and it didn't help. The waves aren't so bad that you can't interpret the screen or anything but they are bad enough that you can't really look at it without being really annoyed for any length of time. It just kind of shimmies left to right such that if you drew a vertical line down the screen it would become wavy. Is this a sign my monitor is dying after only a couple years of use? Or is it just incapable of the resolution I want to use it on? Do I just need a better monitor? It is primarily a gaming system.
