What causes CRTs to glow after they are turned off?

Anyone else notice this? If you are in a dark room and you turn off a crt you can still see it glowing for a while. What causes this?

Don't ask how I know that. 😱

Hi, The Second Annode Voltage of 30,000 Volts or up on larger CRTs takes a long time to completely bleed off. It's causing the phosphorous on the screen to glow. May stop afer up to a day. There may be a lot more to this, so you may get a more detailed reply. Jim

I thought only lead is able to protect you from radiation? 🙂

There is strong evidence that WMD are found inside monitors.

Since sanctions never work, you should invade your monitor to get the WMDs!
