What caused this? Blurry on one side of the photo?

Crap lens I would assume. Sigma's 10-20 is notorious for that. I had one that exhibited that behavior exactly *once* the entire time I owned it. Very bizarre.

Wha? All the other photos are sharp throughout the frame, except that one. You would think it would either happen all the time or not at all. I had a 10-20mm Sigma too. Never had that issue. I wonder what causes it.

Probably shot wide open, less DOF and the camera was slightly angled horizontally.

That doesn't look out of focus, it looks like camera movement. Something vibrated the left side of the sensor during a long exposure? Seems far-fetched, but I don't know what else would make it look like that...maybe a smudge on the sensor?

DOF isn't the issue. It's got most of the right side of the frame in focus (except for the closest chair) and most of the the blurry parts of the image are in a plane with sharp parts of the image.

My first inclination was mirror slap combined with a somewhat slow shutter speed, but that would cause the top or bottom half of the image to be blurry, not the left or right side (unless they're using a camera with a side-to-side shutter -- I don't know of any).

I notice that the aspect ratio changes from image to image. Perhaps this is a pano or composite of two images, and the left one was simply blurry? Do you have any idea what equipment they were using?

I agree with Dubb, this looks like movement, not OOF. And it couldn't be a sensor problem since all the other photos look sharp.

You know what? The stitching hypothesis is probably it. It seems like the guy just stitches two handheld shots together to get wider FOV.

Basically, this guy told my client that the blur was intentional - it was meant to attract attention to the right side of the room. He didn't want to admit that he fucked up.

Yep, poorly stitched panorama. It also appears to be stacked photos on each half as well (attempt at HDR to show the view through the windows as well as the interior), which could easily cause focus issues if all of the shots weren't taken from exactly the same position and angle.
