what case to get

i am building my first computer with a eVGA NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT 256MB and an AMD 64 3200+ and wonder if this thermaltake case would be good.

well for 1 its fugly as hell. 2, its so damn expensive, i can get 2 good antec cases for that price. but hey its your money and if you want a fugly case, go for it.

i have the same case in black and made of steel. its friggin' heavy. i dont like it anymore after having to move in and out of my apts with it. i bought a antec sonata for $60 and liking it alot - quiet, lighter, and looks nice.

i'd go with the antec slk3700 or sonata.

I wouldnt buy any case (or anything) from Tiger Direct! When I got one from them, UPS threw it over my fence, and the box it came in looked like someone had a knife fight with it. It wasnt even double boxed, and the case was already half way out of the box laying on my yard. The side clear panel was scratched too.

that case you posted is great, though you might want to look at the chieftech version of it. its called the dragon, and its made of aluminum, i used to have one till i sold it for my lian li pc-75

antec 3700-bqe
cooler master centurion 5
cooler master cavalier 3
thermaltake tsunami dream

all available at newegg.

SLK3700-AMB, -BQE, and SOnata don't get plugged all the time here for nothing. They are awesome values. Choices:
Pay over 50% more for a blue Thermaltake with a window (Tsunami) and no PSU, or get a good price on the same case with a nice PSU. Or spend a bit more and get a TruePower 380 in it and nice black finish. I think the Antecs win.

Cerb is right. The Sonata seems to be the best value all around, everyone likes them. I just like the look of the Tsunami better than any case out there, thats me though 🙂 Go with the Sonata!!!

i didnt really like the sonata, if your going to get the sonata plug up those holes that spell "Antec" on the sides or youll get dust to collect in them. I sold my sonata and got a 3700amb i like it alot more.

i don't think the sonata is the best value. the 3700bqe is better and cheaper by at least $10.

Note that I said all three were good values. The Sonata needs less modding for quiet, and the finish is great. The AMB is plainer, but an unbeatable value, and the BQE is in between.

Is it in your price range? Do you like the way it looks? Have you goggled up some reviews? Is it big enough to cover future expansion? Most of the advice you're going to get here is based on what other people can spend (think you should spend) and what they want or what they like. Save yourself some time, answer the questions above and do what's right for you.

what about this case

I would get this case, it is my favorite....but then again, the ultimate choice is really yours, get something you like, and not what others like. My 2 cents
