Hi
at the moment i have a 'older' setup and im aiming to completely upgrade it to something along these lines:

XP2500 Barton cpu (try to overclock it to something past 2.2ghz would be nice)
ABIT NF7-S Rev 2 motherboard
i have memory which is Corsair XMS 3200 LL stuff (1 Gigabyte of)
a new graphics card (i have just bought a Gainward G4 Ti 4200 128Mbs card, which is ok, but not what i want overall)
i have a maxtor 120gig hard drive, but im going to get one more
i have a pioneer dvd rw but i need a dvd rom as i have a samsung 52x cd rom...
also going to get a antec 550W true power psu as well

now for the case and a cpu heatsink i was thinking of a Thermaltake Xaser 3 in blue, but i was considering to spend a little more to get a aliminum case instead and i have a spire falcon rock for cooling. now before i was using a epox 8rda+ or a 8rda3+ (which ever gave me less problems) and cooling in my older xaser 2 case with the falcon rock was very good, it hardly went above 46C (i was overclocking the cpu, an XP1700 downgraded core) to 190 x 2.2ghz (roughly) with a 1.6Vcore. was that a good temp considering fan/heatsink etc? my room temp isnt that hot, i doubt it hardly goes above 20C.
so what would anyone recommend? this can be anything from different cpu/mother board to whatever cables i should use for my hard drives!! i dont mind.. just any pointers? i was looking at a thermalright slk-900-a heatsink, but im not sure about that as i wouldnt be sure as to what fan to get with it.
does anyone know when the more powerful ATi graphics cards are coming out? i used to own a 9700 Pro before it went pete tong so i would love one of those, but a bit faster!
thanks for the tips, any recommendations would be muchly appreatied!

Hehe one question turned to many. What a misleading thread topic.

Anyway, the most popular recommendations seem to be SLK-800U and 900U. Any fan that blows some CFM on it does well. Honestly just choose what noise level you're able to tolerate and the size and put it on. Zalman CNPS7000cu or alcu are great choices as well for silent/effective cooling. Swiftech's MCX462 cools well also but is quite expensive. Those seem to be the popular choices. As for the rest of your system setup, it looks good. I'm a big fan of the NF7-s it's a great board. And for video card? Yea, anything better than the 9700 Pro would be the 9800 Pro hehe.

id say slk900u with a tornado fan for serious cooling.. maybe an enermax 92mm adjustable if you want good cooling, and lower noise levels

well i was just going to mention the system as it might have made some sort of difference when it came to the setup of the cooling or the case.. i dont know!!
well i was thinking of something faster than a 9800 pro to be honest, and as im in no hurry for upgrading it (the geforce 4 will prehaps do for a little while) im not so worried at waiting..
but then, im only using a tbird @ 1.33ghz with 512mbs of ram with the geforce 4..
as i have a few more questions about the setup im using, i will post in correct 'forums' :) sorry for any problems!
