Shopping for new phone currently. Thinking SGS II or possibly one of the new wp7 phones when they come out.

2 yrs ago: Palm Centro on Sprint (SERO)
Now: Evo on Sprint (EPRP)

1 yr from now: AT&T or Verizon, the only two carriers with decent coverage in my part of Maine.

Since Sprint has a roaming contract with Verizon, the above makes no sense. When you don't have Sprint coverage, you default to Verizon.

You don't "default" to Verizon. You default to Sprint and roam to Verizon.
Most importantly, when you don't have Sprint coverage, data roaming to Verizon is at 2G (1xRTT) speeds.

Yes, I'm aware that most phones still say "3G" when they roam to Verizon. That does not reflect the true data connection. I'm also aware that some people get around it with a PRL hack, but I'm not interested in that.

So given that I'm roaming almost 100% of the time and getting the shitty data speeds that come with it, I think it makes a whole lot of sense.

2 Years ago, BlackBerry Curve, bleh. On Verizon
Now, HTC Incredible, Verizon
Hopefully sooner than later, Galaxy Nexus on Verizon

2 Years ago.. iPhone 3GS on AT&T
Now.. in the past 2 weeks... iPhone 4 (Sold), HTC Inspire 4G (Sold), Samsung Focus (Windows Phone 7.5) on AT&T.. for now 🙂

Dumb phone a couple of years ago then, I realized I was only carrying it as a convenience for other people. Haven't carried a phone since.

Verizon. I can't remember what phone. I think it was the LG enV Touch. Or some Motorola thing.

I'd never given any thought to actual models of phones before my first smartphone, my current Droid X.
