Guys,

Need your help. I need a budget card and can be used for gaming.
Cant spend much :( since i'm not than much into gaming, only an hour
a day. the thing is i've a few to select from.

first question is:confused:?
What to buy, 9200 128mb or 9600SE?

If i'm to buy the 9200, which brand would you suggest, something i
can overclock, because some said that the 9200 cannot be overclocked.

ATI Radeon or PowerColor or His Excalibur?

Thanks

The simplest way to a good recommendation is to provide the following:

1. Your budget (preferred/max).
2. Your CPU, MB, RAM (speed/type/amount).
3. The games you play (specific titles/genres [RTS, FPS, MMORPG]).
4. Your monitor and the resolution you run it at.

The 9200 is getting long in the tooth. I'd be loathe to recommend anything less than a GeForce 4Ti 4200 if you're buying now.

sorry about that.
My current specs are:
1.6a@2.24gh
epox 4g4a+
256MB Geil 400
350watts generic PSU
AOC 17" KLR

as for the games, i play a bit of everything, but lesser
on the FPS.

about the price range, well i'm from the philippines
and cards here are costly, compared to US, but
I would say $50 to $70. and ordering from the web
would be exorbitant.

i'm trying to make a deal with a Gainward GF4 Ti4200 Ultra/650TV Golden Sample
for $70, 1 year used. this is a good deal, right?

will it run on my Epox 4g4a+ board, 4x agp? coz a friend of mine bought a radeon9600
8x and when the store tried to test it on a 4x mobo, it didn't run? they have to get an
8x mobo just to test it.

thanks. your help is greatly appreciated.

That's an incredibly good deal! The Golden Samples are among the best 4200s around, even if you don't overclock. And it's 4x, so no problems with your motherboard that I can see. Being a little used should not really matter, unless it was abused and fried...

If the card is good, jump on it. It'll do more than adequately on most games except the most recent ones, where you might have to lower the resolution.

It's also more powerful than either the 9200 or 9600SE, so you can't lose. :)
