Hello All,

I need just record HD video and audio (2ch or DD) to PC, I'm not looking for OTA HD TV tuner.

Can ATI AVIVO be used for that? What card I should look for?

As for HD sources:
1. TV set with HD tuner
2. Dish set with HD receiver

thanks.

There are a couple ( DViCo FusionHDTV, ElGato EyeTV ) out that will allow you to record UNSCRAMBLED satellite signals ( like from the big dishes ), but I am not aware of any that will work with the small dish systems like Dish or DirecTV. The ones that support DVB-S do so with software and will eat up A LOT of CPU cycles. I have a Dish 811 HD receiver and watch HD on my 24" LCD and use a Theater 550 Pro card and a breakout box to record content downsized to 480p from the S-Video output. It will be some time before we will see AFFORDABLE hardware-based solutions with either a DVI-D or Component input because of the greedy corporate a**holes that will be fighting over copy protection.
