What card for a Duron 1.3? Upgrading from GF2MX.

Title says it. I play mostly older games and just want to extend the life of my comp a bit. I've been looking at a Sapphire Radeon 9550. Would this be overkill for the Duron 1.3? Thanks.

get a used ti4200 from the fs/ft forums, or get the passively cooled vanilla 9600 (real one, not se) for about 70 dollars at newegg.

Thanks guys. I actually just picked up a Gainward Ti 4200 Golden Sample in FS/FT. This means I can play Doom 3 at 60fps now right?...........right!? 😉

Doom3 is a very CPU intensive game (as well as being hard on the video card), so don't feel too bad when you're chugging along at 30fps at 640X480; the Duron can only go so far...

if i drop my 2000+ o'cd to 2600+ back to stock then i go from high thirties-low fourties at 1024 medium down to high twenties (with an almost unplayable min fps) in d3. (9800 pro, 512MB RAM)

So that duron will be the bottle-neck big time if u get a half-way decent kard (anything => a ti4200 or 9600), i'd save my pennies if i were u and get a new cpu/mobo sometime soonish down the road 🙂
