What car would you put up against a stock 911 turbo?

Don't be too hard on him,just because the first year Z06 was only 1 second behind the Ferrari of 3X it's cost on Thundermountain.... this is the classic phrase from guys who have only been exposed to Import children at the local gas station hang out who heard from their daddy's back in the 70's and early 80's that drag was all they were good for.

Watch the Motorola cup, I'm waiting for the Porshe to catch up with the Viper and the Z06.

My friends seriously modded 97 Talon TSi that goes 0-60 in ~3.65, and runs the quarter in 12.022 @ 111.98. It'd lose in the top end, but it'd be a good race.

Actually I meant on a course with turns. The powerband of the Corvette is going to make going fast easier than the Porsche for the average driver.

I guess I'm just biased. I haven't been a fan of the vette in a long time. I guess it's just not elegent enough. Sorry for the obvious obsurdity in my previous post.

No problem.

I think we should start a movement to educate the masses about the merits of all cars, from Imports to Domestic. If you a true car enthusaist, you'll enjoy all sorts of cars and understand what they are all about, instead of insulting them without knowledge.

911s are desired track cars because they're tail heavy. It makes for good oversteer. After I save some a bit more, I want to get a 911SC. Not too fast but simple, reliable, and fun.

911s are desired track cars because they're tail heavy. It makes for good oversteer. After I save some a bit more, I want to get a 911SC. Not too fast but simple, reliable, and fun.

IMHO, Oversteer=bad Understeer=good

a slightly modified F-body or vette, the turbo's do the 1/4 mile in mid 12's iirc. fbods do 1/4 mid 13's stock, easy to drop to the 12's.

I would put it against a z06 or a viper gts or a cobra r or maybe even the 2003 cobra.

id definitely put a z06 up against that turbo.....my dads buddy races ferrari's on a road race course on the weekends, im not sure what kind his is, but i know for a fact that there are other cars there such as porsches and whatnot, but they dont like it when guys with the z06 show up because in his own words 'They are just too damn fast. They smoke all of our cars that cost twice as much.' I'm not making this up either, he told me this, but im gonna go watch one of the races somtime to find out for sure

Umm. No. Hennessey is a crook who will take every last dime that you give him and then never return your car. He also is an arrogant prick who gets his ass kicked for talking trash to the wrong people.

Wow thats nice. Please note that the thread starter asked which CAR we would put against a 911.

He didnt ask which auto maker has the best personality or anything along those lines.

Wow it is nice that you understand that Hennessey is NOT going to be building anymore cars or taking care of the few that he did build. He is being sued by several pissed off rich people.

i'd say lightly modded and dyno-tuned skyline (like the one in fs/ft here), or you could go to a street ported 94 rx-7 with a single turbo conversion and all they typical bolt ons... both of those would eat up the staightaways and carve corners like mofos
