What car would you put up against a stock 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo? Given it's a standard race, with a healthy dose of long stretches but enough curves too.

Stats:

-415hp
-0-60mph of 4 seconds
-0-100mph of 9 seconds

Link

This is the 911 Turbo for North America btw, don't know how they differ anywhere else, but just thought I'd specify that. The 911 GT2 is 462hp and really not much faster than the 911 Turbo at all, slightly higher top speed. Woopty-do. :p

Boy, I just wish I had an expensive car that looks like a toy and has a big piece of ugly, embarassing plastic sticking up above the rear of it.

NICE GT2 man! I saw a yellow one a few weeks ago smashed up and mangled with trees and a buick. Very sad to see a $200k die like that.

thats a GT2? I figured it was just some turbo souped up!

Get this: The driver is a ~60-ish old lady! :Q

:edit: sorry for stealing your thread RSI :p

huh... the driver of the GT2 that I saw wrecked couldn't have been older than 20. Poor kid. You know it was his daddy's car too.

Obviously a Corvette Z06, a much easier car to drive at speed than a Porsche so for most people it would be a better choice, performance-wise. And in expert hands the particular course would determine the winner.

With the $65,000 left over you could get a Mini Cooper S, a Nissan Altima, and a Chevy pick-up. :)

Helllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Polly!
You mean in a straight line. I'd like to see a corvette out race a Porsche on a track with tight turns.

Uh...the Corvette Z06 is just as much as track car as the 911 Turbo. I'm not sure which one is better, both are extremely good handling automobiles!

Don't be ignorant and think that just cause its american with a big V8 its only a straight line car! It can handle with the best of them!

Or alternatively you could get one of these Lingenfelter Corvettes...
edit-misspelled Ligenfelter

"The $58,016 (sans warranty) Corvette roared to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. One hundred mph arrived in a startling 7.7 seconds, then to 150 mph in 17.9. For those taking drag-racing notes, the car cleared the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds at 126 mph. "

Bah thats nothing. The twin-turbo Lingerfelter Corvette did 0-60mph in 1.97seconds and did the 1/4mi in 10 seconds or so. It was on MotorTrend. Oh it costs $150K though.
