2004 Subaru WRX STi

Impreza 22B (Find your own pics; this one sucks)

Evolution VII

Which would you chose? The EVO 8 MR hands down beats the WRX STi in performance, the 22B is a pretty limited edition imprezza with outstanding performance, and the WRX STi is on par with Evo 7/8 performance.

Personally I'd chose the 2004 WRX STi because it feels more like a man's car, looks more like one, and I generally don't like the Evo looks (not saying they're bad; but not as good as the STi or 22b) And the 04 STi gets rid of the funky circle headlights :)

STi, hands down.

If I was feeling nostalgic, I'd find a 22b.

If I were going to modify the car (which I would):
1. Evo
2. 22B
3. STI

If I was going to leave it stock (which I wouldn't):
1. STI
2. Evo
3. 22B

sti - gotta love the performance - and subaru owns mitsu as a company.

if mitsu was doing well as a company - might go for the evo since it is a better performer

here's a much better picture
While the Evo MR is an awesome car (.98g skidpad, huge brakes, and an aluminum roof + other weight savings), I have to question the value. Instead of paying $33,000 for the MR, I'd go for the RS for $26,800. With the extra cash, one oculd easily bring an RS up to MR specs (except for weight savings like the roof) and still have a good amount of cash leftover.

Um, no. The MR has AYC, Active differentials, and a 6 speed transmission. It's gonna cost a lot more to make an RS to MR specs.

It's not just weight savings... it's not something that you can do later on by stripping the interior.

Since the roof itself is lightened, the center of gravity is lowered.

No real racer is going to use the AYC traction control system, so that point is a non-issue imho.

I hear the 6-speed transmission is a piece of junk.

The active center differential is cool, but it's still not good enough to justify the extra cost imho.

STi winning... wtf...

NASIOC boards would have the 22b winning this by a margin over the STI... :p

EDIT: Zing

uhhh.... isnt the 22b like the BEST car subaru has EVER made? they only made like 50 for the WRC of '99(which it won).... im wondering how could the sum of subarus engineering superiority be out voted by the flashy new sti... obviously my vote = 22b

Definitely the 22b. I've been in love with that thing ever since Car & Driver tested it waaaay back when. The STi is great, and I'd take one over the Evo (mostly because of my love for Subaru)...but yeah, I can't pass up the 22b.
