What car says "reliability" to you?

Saab, back when Saabs were actually Saab's-owned and operating by the Swede's. My 1986 900 Turbo was a fantastic car and had over 220,000 miles on the clock when I sold i. I still got $4500 for it. Since being bought out by GM, they've gone down hill to cheap and plastic.

Chevrolet. Traded my last truck (c/k1500) in after having it for 15yrs. and putting 190K miles on it.

Mercedes. Only car I heard of that made it to 1,000,000 miles.

Ugh... they don't build them like they used to. Not to mention (recently) some severely stupid business decisions that will reduce vehicle quality in the US. I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to say more...

Though I think that if you're buying a European luxury and want reliabliity, Merc E320CDI is the only way to go. And if you live in a "no diesel" state... too bad. Modern diesel cars rule.

Honda only if it is a manual. I still don't trust Honda non-planetary gear autos.

Toyota is definitely #1... Lexus of course is in the picture, I've seen LS400s beaten to all crap and they still run. It's amazing the abuse some owners put their cars through with lack of/improper maintenance and repair.

Pfft, whatever. Honda/Acura and Subaru are much more reliable. How the fvck did Toyota get this reputation? They're more reliable than American cars, but they're not the most reliable car out there.

Uh.. because Toyota consistenly tops pretty much any reliability survey out there. Just because you've had worse experiences with them, doesn't mean they're less reliable than subaru and honda.

There's a Volvo 240 running about North America who's owner is paid to take it to all the Volvo meets. It has 2.5m miles.

You can keep any car running forever if you really want to.

honda and toyota.

if you were asking me " what car says unreliable " id go with GM. 🙂

My 2003 toyota is making a squeaking sound. The dealer said it seems to be coming from the transmission, and I need to bring it back to them only has 28K on it. My parents 2002 honda civic always leaked oil. The dealer never could fix it even after grinding the heads smooth twice. They traded it for another civic, go figure. They really like the hybrid and could not find a Prius at the time though. I say it is all luck, but my family has better luck with Chevrolet than anything else. 🙂

He hasn't spent major repair money on the car. I believe the motor was rebuilt once.

Hyundai are cheap and reliable. Subaru would be on the top...but they are not what they used to be it seems...but still great. I also would not hesitate to get a Honda or Toyota.
