I drive around 2,000+ miles a month on the highways and my Passat gets around 29-32 mpg.

Well im gonna have to swap cars with my dad in the coming months because im going to go over my lease mileage if i keep it up....

What cars under 23k get similar if not better highway mileage?

My current pick of the moment is a Scion tC, but i was wondering if you guys knew of any suggestions...

I thought about possibly a diesel jetta, but i dont think i'll ever get another VW.

Really? Wow... I like the Mini as well... Maybe a nice Mini-S would suit me :)

My only gripe is there isn't a mini dealer within 40 miles from me, so if something goes wrong, im screwed.

Definitely Toyota Prius #1 but also
new Diesel Passat...but you don't want VW.
Honda Insight
Honda Civic

Remember any Manual Trans car will get better gas milage than an auto.

Well from what i've seen, Hybrids really wont do me any good on the highways since they run on gas at high speeds.... The only reason they do well compared to other cars on highways is because of their 90hp engines which wouldnt cut it for me.....

I'm not a fan of used cars. Unless your talking about a late 60's mustang, then were in business :D

My Saturn gets 40mpg, 43 if I drive carefully. Of course, I don't think they make the SL series anymore.

Very few BMWs sell MINIs. Only MINI dealers can service MINIs.

BTW, the S will get significantly less than 40MPG. I think a heavy foot has much to do with that

i was gonna go with the jetta/golf tdi, but you expressed distaste. Don't get an insight, those are a couple of years old and have faded out, so you'll be stuck. Corolla?

hows the credit? if you have 23k in cash, spend that in financing/leasing one of those brand new Mercedes Benz E320 CDI's-37mpg and 300 lb ft of torque. Also check out a 97-99 E300. That model is called the W210. I know some will flame me for advocting Benz, but they make the best diesel sedan out right now, so I'll take the flames.

in the long run u might be saving money if u buy a used car..

change the insurance so that ur nice car is a "weekend" car, then put only liability on the used car.. u save $$$ on insurance

gas is cheaper for civic too, u can go buy the cheapest gas available..

hell if all u do is commute, a used car is ok... when the weekend comes, take out the pimp car! :D:D
