What can you do to help the victims of Katrina?

The United States is in crisis. Milllions of people's liveliehoods are buried underwater, entire cities are shut down, New Orleans is gone, US oil production is severely crippled.

Take a deep breath and look inside yourself.

Many of us will search for who to blame.

Many of us will complain about the cost of gas.

Many of us will want to send aid, and we should and we will.

Now is not the time to question our leaders. Now is the time for your to lead yourself, to act because you can. Look inside yourself and see the strength of an American -- independant, entrpeneurial, scrappy, and determined to help the people in need.

Please do what you can to help those suffering from Katrina. Start right now. Ask yourself what you can do and take the first step towards doing that. Maybe that will mean opening a new browser window and typing in redcross.org, or maybe picking up the phone and calling 1800-HELP-NOW. Or maybe you can decide to open your home to refugees, or give solace to a friend whose relatives are missing. Or maybe just sit quietly for five minutes and think about what you can do to help, and then do it.
