Way too much shiny background stuff. It doesn't look professional. I am scared to buy stuff from sites that aren't tidy and clean.

He also may want to consider listing his stuff on amazon as well. I believe they sell 3rd party stuff through their site.(that's how I bought a recent schoolbook)... probably for a small fee of course.

make the whole site look like shop.megaskates.com

on the shop site:
- move the logo to the empty space to the left OR move it above the navigation.
- don't list your items with a number in front of them, it looks like poo.
- rename your "megadeals" section to closeouts or specials. Nobody is going to click there unless they know there are deals.
- get rid of the stupid contact information at the top of every page and put it at the bottom.
- add better descriptions for all your items.
- get rid of the duplicate godaddy.com thing at the bottom.

Basically try making it look professional. Then try marketing it. Then hope people still buy roller skates.

Here is just one reason for the lack of sales. He needs more legitimate sites linking to him, and SEO is definitely needed.

One of the best things he could do is sponsor a local skating club or competition. He could even sponsor youth baseball/soccer/basketball/etc teams. Eventually those kids will be blogging/tweeting/myspacing about the skates they bought from MegaSkates.

One of the features I like about newegg or something like sierrasnowboard is being able to read reviews on a product. Maybe he can put up an ad on facebook or start a speed skating group together.

You can't have reviews and forums and such if nothing is selling....

Well they could have staff reviews like on sierra. The staff will demo boards/bindings/etc and rate the item. They'll mention things like whether or not it's good for all mountain/freestyle/jibbing/etc. I don't know about speed skating but there's probably a reason there are different kinds of skates. They probably perform/behave differently. I didn't mention forums but if you look at the forums on sierra a lot of times people will ask about a specific product and then community/staff members will give them their input. I'm sure this effects their buying decisions. Stuff like dude I'm looking for a steezy jib board, what do you guys recommend? Dude what kind of steezy speed skates do you guys recommend for beginners? Some people don't like making blind purchases.

Both of those sites look terrible, but your coach's is slightly worse. It's less busy and visually offensive than the other one, but it says things like "Online Shopping Made Easy!" and "Mega Deals!" which make it seem like a fake scam site. I think with such a niche product, word of mouth is key. Also, which comes up first when you google it- that's probably the most important.

What does his site offer that that other one doesn't? What does it offer that Sports Authority or hell, even Amazon, doesn't?
