Reid did not want it voted on. Ask why!
It was the Republicans that forced the vote.
But that apparently does not matter and it failed - lack of Democrat support.
So Jobs#1 went down in flames.
Looking at everything on the table what can you guys actually agree to?
There is a lot of stuff the two parties agree to:
Free trade
Giving china most favored nation trade status
Income tax
Keeping illegal immigration legal
Keeping weed illegal
Continuing the war on drugs
Allowing greenhouse gases to pollute the atmosphere
Continuing the war in the middle east
Face the facts, as long as the two major parties are in office, nothing is going to change.
Dont forget
Allowing the president a kill list
expanding federal power to spy on us
propping up failing industry with tax money
printing money as fast as can
The democrats dont want to cut any spending, especially welfare
lmao I have ocean front property in Nebraska I can sell you if you believe that at the end of the day any real cuts would be enacted by Democrats. Remember this is the party that screamed 30 billion in cuts out of a budget of 3.5 trillion was "draconian". Dumbass indeed.
Bill Clinton led to the biggest cuts in Welfare in the 90's. It's what gave us a balanced budget. More Info here
!
Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act - The bill was a cornerstone of the Republican Contract with America and was introduced by Rep. E. Clay Shaw, Jr. (R-FL-22) who believed welfare was partly responsible for bringing immigrants to the United States.

Phokus won't acknowledge that. He also won't acknowledge the Democrats wrote the largest piece of legislation in history behind closed doors without one Republican present than pushed it through without barely a chance to read it much less debate much of it.
It was agreed to, and it wasn't the DEMOCRATS who renegged, you fucking imbecile. Stop being a typical low information voter. Do you really want to be on the same level as Matt1970, who can't even tell the difference between parody news and real news?
Why should I care what anybody thinks of me on an internet msgboard?
Republican states recently asked for the ability to cut Welfare, Obama agreed if they could prove the cuts would lead to job creation. ABC news link
Oh that's your response when someone points out your ignorance? I'll give you a reason: so you don't stay fucking retarded.

the democratic house and senate last year did not pass a budget or any of the appropriations bills. To keep the government from shutting down, mcconnell and obama negotiated a three-month cr in december. On february 19, the house republicans passed a cr (h.r. 1) that cut $61 billion in government spending for the current fiscal year, which goes through september 30.
Reid at first refused to take up the house cr, calling the cuts draconian, and obama said that he would veto the bill if it passed the senate. So to keep the government funded after march 4, congress had to pass a short-term cr. However, boehner said that any short-term cr to keep the government funded while budget negotiations continued would have to include cuts in spending. Thus, the house passed a two-week cr last week that cuts spending by $4 billion and expires march 18.
While the senate democrats blocked the house cr, the house democrats were claiming that they had already compromised on spending cuts. Pelosi said last week that the house democrats have, i repeat, have cut $41 billion from president obamas budget already.
weve come up more than halfway to meet the republican proposals, minority whip steny hoyer (d.-md.) told reporters this week.
But, the democratic leaders saying that they had already cut spending is merely a reference to the december cr which was $41 billion less than obamas proposed budget, which was never enacted. So the house democrats are not willing to cut a single penny from current spending, but claiming that they have already come halfway.
You cut, cut, cut proponents must have failed basic economics. We can all agree that the long term structural deficits in the budget needs to be brought under control. What we can t agree on is the time frame.
GOVERNMENT SPENDING IS 40% OF GDP!!!
Do you austerity people understand what that means? You do not start aggressively cutting such a huge segment of the economy while the economy is already teetering on recession. It has to be very gradual and measured, or every dollar in cuts will lead to many more dollars in lost economic activity. How the hell can you people look across the Atlantic at Europe, and fail to see the economic implications of using Austerity to combat an economic crisis? Greece, France, Ireland, the UK?? You just choose to blind yourselves to real world examples of what not to do because of ideology? Do you think we in the US are so different that the same measures will have different results? When you are capable of borrowing at almost 0% interest to prop up an economy through the bad times, a luxury uniquely afforded to the US, YOU DO IT!!. Republicans are wanting to pull the rug out from under the recovery, and then when they inevitably get booted out of office in the next election cycle from the resulting mess, they'll turn around and blame the economic shit storm on the democrats. Hmm, that script sounds familiar.
This thread sums up everything wrong,
Here let's try this can we all agree that the war on terror, war on drugs, and budget cuts should all be addressed.
(budget cuts on everything with different percentages for each)
That states already cut spending and we didn't go over the cliff. If we don't get our spending under control and soon, future bumps in the road will be a lot worse. If you don't believe me, listen to Obama tell it.

You have shown a real inability to understand the most basic of what I am saying through this entire thread. So you not understanding my question about why I should care what others think of me isnt a surprise. If the litmus test on being intelligent falls upon you. We are further down the road to Idiocracy than I had previously imagined. And that is quite frankly, scary as hell.
