I'm in a school network that's been locked down pretty tightly. so far as i can tell, only www, ftp, and SSL (443) can go in and out.
if i want to jump on WoW or something, is there a way to do this using a proxy? i found a list of free public proxies, and the run on various ports (http's port 80 being one of the ones used).
i've done some poking around, and found an app called SocksCap that is supposed to be able to route apps through a proxy (and port) of my choosing.
i can't seem to connect though... am i misunderstanding a basic step here? can a proxy only forward the designated port along, or can it be used to shove game data through a different port as well?
do i have any options, or should i just go ahead and cancel the accout?
