i got these movies and they work on my old stand alone dvd player but according to the instructions of the player it doesnt read dvd- or dvd+ media, infact it doesnt even do cd-r media or vcd format

so these movies are not professional media so im sure they are either dvd- or dvd+ media

im acking because i want to get a compatible dvd writer that can write movies that my player can read

It doesn't make any difference since your stand alone can't read either format. You need a new Stand Alone. Get one that reads both (most new ones do)

Type model number in the search. Find your player and don't forget to check out other peoples personal experience too.

Even my old DVD player that never stated it could read VCD or anything else besides the standard DVD can actually do VCD, sometimes SVCD, once in a while -R or +R..... from the reviews I've read. But I did test the VCD and does work :D
