Yep, 4 GB is perfectly fine for a surf/email/iTunes machine. Big improvement over 2 GB.
OTOH, on my Win 7 machine, which also is a light use machine, I notice very little improvement going from 4 GB to 8 GB.
BTW, my Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 4 GB DDR2 RAM and nVidia GeForce 9400M GPU sometimes feels faster than my Core i7 quad-core iMac with 12 GB DDR3 RAM and 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5750, because the MBP has an SSD and the iMac doesn't.
