So, I have a visiontek xtasy 9600 that I wrecked while trying to put a different heat sink on it :disgust: so, now I have an expensive piece of junk. knocked off a capacitor, and apparently the VPU's on these things are of a flip-chip design, and I wrecked a few of the little resisters on there too. Stupid me.
Oh well, what should I do with it to consol myself. :)

the capacitor can, that i'm not worried about. Is it possible to buy a new VPU? it looks like they should be able to be replaced w/ enough patience.

Too bad you screwed with it. Visiontek has an awsome warranty. I had a GF3 that died after 1-1/2 years and they couriered me a knew one gratis, even though they didn't even offer Nvidia cards anymore!
They've got a customer for life with me... as long as they don't screw me over! :)

If i hadn't screwed w/ it, i wouldn't need their warranty. I was happy w/ the card, just wanted to put on a cooler w/ a fan, instead of the passive hsf that was on it. Oh well. Do you think visiontek would be willing to fix it for a cost?

Try to fix it up the best you can, to make it look like you didn't mess with it. Then try and warranty it. Don't mention you did anything to it. Can't lose anything, except maybe a dead card and some shipping $$.
