What can I do about loud neighbors in apartment complex?

There are really loud neighbors right across from my window in the building next door. What actions can I take to make it better? I've already notified the management company and also the night time security here multiple times. There is supposed to be "quiet hours" in the complex after 10PM, but these people are always loud, even on weeknights.


Can I ask to be moved to a different apartment or cancel the lease? Please let me know.

Have you talked to them? Asked them about maybe? If so, and they don't do anything different, call the local police. It very likely won't be their first DOC noise complaint.

Then enjoy the next few nights of extra-loud music, coupled with yelling of, "LOUD ENOUGH FOR YOU?!?"

If they're inconsiderate enough to play loud music late at night, they're not likely to heed any requests to keep the noise down.

Read over your lease and see if there's anything explicitly in there about how to go about cancelling it Re: noise. I suppose it could be said that, with after 10pm quiet hours in effect as per the complex rules, and the landlord is not enforcing this rule, then the landlord has failed to deliver his promise of quiet nights.
 
Yes, there is a thing in the lease about where they can terminate your lease for loud noise and disturbing your neighbors.

In that case, I suggest you notify the landlord via certified letter that they are violating the terms of the lease & unless somthing is done about it, you will consider that the landlord hasn't held up his end of the contract.

Be very polite & to the point ... its certainly worth a try.
 
burn a lower case t in front of their window, they will know that it stands for "time to leave". Either that or you could dress up as a ghost and try to scare them out.

I had neighbors who made horrible noise every night for the month after they moved in. I finally got fed up with them and went over to ask them to be quiet. It was two 19/20 year old girls. They were really embarrassed about the whole situation and were never loud again.

Moral: Its worth a shot to talk to them.

my neighbor told me my car music was waking them up

I had no idea it was that loud

if they never talked to me about it I would never have turned it down before I entered my neighborhood ... so go talk to them
 
I had one neighbor that was below me. Everynight around 3 am they would blast loud music. Apt. management would do nothing. One night it was completely silent, I went outside his car was there all lights were off. I was guessing he was a sleep. I took my sub, faced it straight down turned the bass all the way up and blasted him for about 30 minutes.

The next morning I had to goto work early, I saw him leaving with an airport shuttle giving me a "goto hell" look. I guess he needed his sleep so he could get up early lol. When he got back I never heard a sound from him again.
