What can a PC do that a PS3 can't?

I'm about to build a ~$1000 PC for gaming, and I need you guys to give me some ideas about what I can do with it to push me over the edge and just buy it. HT related stuff would be the best.

I put this in off top since it actually belongs to a number of different boards and I can get a general idea here.

Play more games with better controls and potentially better graphics? It's also upgradable and modular. Much easier and cheaper to buy a new graphics card than a new console.

With the right hardware or software

Video and Audio capturing and editing

Home monitor and security system

Telephone with answering machine

Can grow weed in your PC! lets see a PS3 do that!

I read somewhere that it's called "trolling"

I'm not trolling. I'm trying to figure out stuff I can do with my PC that my PS3 cannot do (not highly advanced tasks, just watching youtube and browsing and shit like that lol) so I can go ahead and buy my PC components and not feel bad about it (and learn about what I can do).

You've been here nearly 12 years. You must know.

Seriously though...by the time you need a new graphics card, you usually need a new motherboard because there's something on the new card that isn't compatible.

Then a processor upgrade usually gets thrown in on top of that.

Mods which is huge in games like skyrim. Starcraft 2 which I've been playing over a year now. Diablo 3.

And $1000 sounds high. Go AMD/Intel dual core for $100 and a $50 mobo then a $200 graphics card like 6950/gtx 560 plain or ti and you can get into a gaming PC ~600.
