what can a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4120B do?

I have a dvd/cd rom drive model HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4120B and nobody can tell me what it can do.No reply back from E-machine,etc.I don't want to buy a dvd writable disk and find out it can't do it.Help.
