Sally depends on the region. Anywhere it can get you a second look from a prospective employer who sees it as a sybol of dedication and an ability to learn

A computer engineering degree is very useful, seeing as, in spite of the high-tech market meltdown, computers will continue to grow to a more prominent role in society.

There are plenty of jobs for computer engineering graduates, and salaries have a wide range. I know of people personally who made around $50000 US upon graduating (and the people, while intelligent, weren't superstar students or anything), although admittably, that was when the market was a lot hotter. It also depends on where you want to work... if you work in Silicon Valley, you'll probably make more money than in some rural town, but if you work in Silicon Valley, be prepared to pay a LOT for housing... it certainly isn't cheap.

Here's a hint: You'll get SQUAT nada zip zero without experience. So get off your lazy butt and CO-OP.

I'm dead straight with this advice, dude. I won't consider someone green to do anything more than tech support, but if you CO-OP'd and have some real experience, then yes, you'll get the base salary.

I'd rather hire someone with experience and talent who worked at 7-11 than a greenie out of college who knows nada.

Internships important. But nowadays- there's SUCH a high demand for computer engineers nowadays that you'll get hired no matter what as long as you have the degree.
