You guys in the other thread convinced me into a revolver. So what caliber, I want more stopping force than a .22 (police have kelvar these days) but I don't want it to go through 12 people at once like that Indiana Jones movie (I like to kill them one by one) or something. I am also thinking about a 12gauge 18" with pistol grip, but if I miss it would take me awhile to get back on the sights. Plus it takes too long to reload. I live near a banking complex, so it needs to be small enough to hold with one hand while I carry loot in the other.

I don't care what caliber you get, but you shouldn't waste money on an expensive gun. Get one cheap, preferably stolen. Then hold it sideways because that looks really cool and you'll win friends with your style points. Ideally you want a gun for each hand, each held sideways. Oh, don't worry about aiming either; looking down the barrel is for conformists.

You won't have enough time to reload, that shouldn't even be an option I wouldn't think. If you miss that much or have that many guys to shoot you're dead anyway.

.45 cals were designed from the ground up to stop a 300lb man at full running speed in his tracks. Plus it's extremely slow, so going through walls isn't as bad. Glock makes some great .45's that are double stacked mags, so lots of rounds and no hammer or safety to get in the way (just pull and boom. there are safetys, just none to flip)

.38cal in P+ ammunition is probably the best all round caliber for defense imo. It's small, and packs a bastard of a hit. Since it's small you can fit it in most .38 revolvers and eliminate alot of bulk. It's extremely important to remember not to use P+ ammunition for regular shooting or you could blow the gun up in your hands; it's designed specifically to kill, and most guns can only handle a few rounds before they break apart.

A shotgun is a good idea, but it's just too damn long. Go around a corner and someone could grab it, then you fux0rd. I like the suggestion from another forum I read once. Get an M-16 with a ACOG/RIS/Front handle/bipod. If you are in the correct stance a rifle shouldn't stick out much further than a pistol. Just hunker back in your room and wait :) Wasn't practical, but a unique idea.

While I agree on the glock thing, the 45 was NOT designed to stop a 300lb man. It was designed to knock down a Moro tribesmen (they were Filipino... when is the last time you saw a 300lbs full-blooded Filipino?) who had smoked opium and wrapped himself in what amounted to a full body tourniquet. So it will work well on a 300lb man (who usually not smoking crack).

my info came from "tales of the gun" on the history channel :p, maybe it wasnt the most reliable source. it was mentioned in regards to the 1911 and the introduction of the .45 acp round back in, well 1911 when it was adopted. may not have been true, ah well :)

everyone who is interested in firearms i think should own a 1911, it was the standard issue pistol for 88 years and is a good piece of history.

Just get a little flamethrower. After people have seen one person being roasted alive they are much more likely to do what you want.

Did I miss something or is he just being tasteless? Also if it's ironic, it's not really funny.

well, it really depends on the job you're doing. if it's a quick hit and you need a throw-away, the .25 automatic is good; a first shot to the head and the bullet can bounce around in his cranium, a few more to the body just for good measure, and with filed grips, trigger and guard you just toss it and they'll never get any prints.

now, if it's stopping power you want, the 44 mag is good to take down a man, not to much too handle if you have any wristr strength, and it really impresses the ladies. for your average liquor store hold-up, i'd probably go with a double barrel, sawed-off, pistol-grip 12 guage shotgun. staring down those big double barrels will make any geek behind the counter piss his pants; but be sure to carry a backup in case you run into johnny law and need some extra fire power.

I'd recommend a solid point slug in a rifle caliber to meake it through the kevlar. So you'll need a semi auto rifle in addition to your nine mm.

Just remember that small hairless guys like you make good bitches in prison...
